The terms of sale between you and The Guilded Veil. These do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

About us

This shop is operated by MS Media Consulting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14888296) trading as The Guilded Veil, with its registered office at Unit 1 Derwent Business Centre, Clarke Street, Derby, DE1 2BU. We are registered for UK VAT under number GB518581669, and all our prices include VAT. You can reach us at hello@theguildedveil.co.uk.

These terms

By placing an order you agree to these Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy and our Returns & Refunds and Shipping & Delivery policies. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

How a contract is formed

When you place an order we will send an acknowledgement confirming we have received it. This is not acceptance of your order. A binding contract is formed only when we send you an email confirming that your order (or, for a multi-item order, that part of it) has been dispatched. We may decline or cancel an order before that point — for example if an item is out of stock, if there is a pricing or description error, or if we are unable to ship to your address — and if we do, we will refund any payment in full.

Pre-orders

Some decks are shown as pre-orders before stock has arrived in the UK. Reserving a pre-order takes no payment and does not place a binding order: you let us know you are interested, and we reply by email to keep you posted on stock. We only ask you to pay once the deck is back in stock and ready to ship — at which point you are free to go ahead or decline. No contract is formed, and no payment is taken, until you complete that payment, so if stock does not arrive you simply pay nothing.

Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include UK VAT; our VAT registration number is GB518581669. The price you pay is the price shown at checkout. Delivery costs are shown separately before you pay. We take care to price accurately, but if we discover a genuine error in the price of an item you have ordered, we will contact you before dispatch to ask whether you wish to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund. Payment is taken securely at checkout through Stripe; we do not store your full card details. For EU orders we ship Delivered Duties Paid: any customs duty and handling are included in the all-in price shown at checkout, so there is nothing more to pay when your parcel is delivered. For now we can only accept EU orders up to €150 in value (the items, excluding delivery); larger EU baskets cannot be completed online yet — please contact us. Orders to countries outside the UK and EU may still attract local import charges on arrival, which are the recipient’s responsibility.

Our goods and the Consumer Rights Act 2015

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Handmade pendulums and rune sets are made by hand, so small natural variations in stone, grain and finish are normal and are not faults. Secondhand decks are pre-owned and sold condition-graded; we describe their condition honestly on the product page, and "satisfactory quality" for a used item is assessed against that description and the price paid. Tarot and oracle decks are sold for entertainment and personal-reflection purposes; we make no claim that any product produces a particular outcome.

Our liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — this includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for breach of your statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses (we supply to consumers for private use). Our total liability for any order will not exceed the price you paid for it.

Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures to perform caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as postal disruption, supplier or import delays, or extreme weather. If such an event affects your order we will contact you and, where appropriate, offer to delay delivery or refund you.

Complaints and disputes

If something is wrong, please contact us at hello@theguildedveil.co.uk and we will try to resolve it. These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
